ABOUT CONFERENCE
The conference aims at exchange of global perspectives on youth, especially with respect to gender and HIV; identifying and developing intervention strategies and helping models that can be adopted by the Government and various socializing agencies to empower the at –risk youth to achieve their true potential and evolve into healthy, happy, useful and responsible adults. The conference proposes a paradigm shift in the way youth are analysed and understood. Most of the debates and deliberations are on “what’s wrong with them, why they are becoming threats to society, what’s not working with them and how can they be controlled. This conference would rather ask questions as “what works with youth, how they can be made responsible citizens of India, what should we do to make then assets for the country, what to do to save youth from HIV infection and how to bring the gender equality. Hence the conference proposes to deliberate on youth issues in terms of positive approaches to youth development, gender and HIV. It will deliberate on issues affecting today’s youth and the role of gender in accessing information and services related to HIV. It will also seek to find answers for achieving the target of “Towards Zero: Zero Discrimination, Zero new cases of HIV and Zero deaths due to HIV”. The 2 Day conference, following an interdisciplinary approach, aims to empower youth for healthy and better living. The focus will be on understanding the present issues and barriers in communication and access to service and evolving prevention strategies and channels to reach the unreached with information and services. |
